Molybdenum improves 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline, grain quality traits and yield attributes in fragrant rice through efficient nitrogen assimilation under cadmium toxicity

Muhammad Imran et al.

Summary: The study showed that Mo application alleviated Cd-induced stress and improved yield and grain quality of fragrant rice cultivars, with Meixiangzhan-2 experiencing more severe inhibitions compared to Guixiangzhan. Mo also enhanced photosynthesis, chloroplast configuration, and N assimilatory pathway under Cd stress.

An actinomycete strain of Nocardiopsis lucentensis reduces arsenic toxicity in barley and maize

Hamada AbdElgawad et al.

Summary: Utilizing a strain of Nocardiopsis lucentensis S5 can reduce arsenic uptake and toxicity in barley and maize plants. This strain also stimulates plant detoxification capacity, promotes biomass gain, and aids in plant growth recovery on arsenate polluted soils.

Blocking effect of fullerene nanoparticles (nC60) on the plant cell structure and its phytotoxicity

Anfei He et al.

Summary: The study found that blocking of plant pore structures by fullerene nanoparticles could damage root cell structure, affecting the uptake of organic pollutants by roots, and long-term exposure may lead to toxicity in plant root cell membranes. The findings suggest that nanoparticles can have phytotoxic effects and pose potential risks when used in agriculture.

Soil enrichment with actinomycete mitigates the toxicity of arsenic oxide nanoparticles on wheat and maize growth and metabolism

Samy Selim et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of the bioactive actinomycete Streptomyces spp. on wheat and maize plants stressed by As-NPs. The application of Streptomyces spp. reduced As accumulation and restored growth and photosynthesis impairment induced by As-NPs. Different plant species exhibited different metabolic pathways under stress conditions.

Characterization of Plant Growth-Promoting Traits and Inoculation Effects on Triticum durum of Actinomycetes Isolates under Salt Stress Conditions

Rihab Djebaili et al.

Summary: The study characterized the halotolerant capability of selected actinomycetes strains in vitro and their potential to promote salt stress tolerance in durum wheat. In vitro assays demonstrated the strains' ability to solubilize phosphate and produce plant growth hormones and substrates under different salt concentrations. Most strains showed 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase activity, and in a greenhouse experiment, inoculation with these strains improved the morpho-biochemical parameters of durum wheat plants, increasing chlorophyll and proline content.

Rhizosphere Engineering With Plant Growth-Promoting Microorganisms for Agriculture and Ecological Sustainability

Sughra Hakim et al.

Summary: The rhizosphere is a complex microhabitat comprised of plant roots, soil, and a diverse consortium of microorganisms. The conditions in the rhizosphere directly impact crop growth and yield. Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) play a key role in improving soil health and supporting plant growth, both under normal and stressed environments.
