Comparative analysis of the stellacyanins (SCs) family and focus on drought resistance of PtSC18 in Populus trichocarpa

Yangang Lan et al.

Summary: In this study, 74 SCs were collected and analyzed from Arabidopsis, papaya, grape, rice, and poplar. A key candidate gene PtSC18 strongly responded to drought stress was screened and its overexpression enhanced drought tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis by improving water retention and reducing oxidative damage. Measurements of physiological indicators supported these findings, highlighting the potential of PtSC18 as a useful gene resource for breeding through genetic engineering.

Genome-wide identification and expression analysis of the NF-Y transcription factor family inPopulus

Rui Liu et al.

Summary: This study identified and described the NF-Y gene family in the Populus genome, categorizing them into three subfamilies and revealing their distribution across chromosomes. Segmental duplication was found to play a vital role in gene family amplification. Analysis showed conservation of duplicated regions between Populus trichocarpa and Vitis vinifera. Stress-relatedcis-elements were found in the promoters of NF-Ygenes, and their expression levels varied under different treatments. Subcellular localization experiments in tobacco indicated different localization patterns for different NF-Ygenes. Transcriptional activity experiments showed no activity in yeast for some NF-Ygenes. This comprehensive analysis established a theoretical basis for further functional studies on the Populus NF-Y gene family.

Transcriptome analysis reveals key genes regulating signaling and metabolic pathways during the growth of moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) shoots

Yangang Lan et al.

Summary: In this study, a transcriptome analysis of moso bamboo shoots during early elongation stages revealed key candidate genes regulating plant hormone signal transduction, sugar and starch metabolism, and energy metabolism pathways. The cytokinin-signaling pathway was continuously active in the three successive elongation stages, indicating its importance in moso bamboo growth. Additionally, key genes involved in sugar, starch metabolism, and energy conversion were found to play essential roles in energy production and substrate synthesis during shoot growth.

Melatonin promotes seed germination under salt stress by regulating ABA and GA3 in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)

Li Chen et al.

Summary: Previous studies have shown that exogenous melatonin can promote seed germination, while this research further explores its role in enhancing salt tolerance in cotton seeds. External melatonin not only improves germination rates and seed growth, but also enhances the resistance of cotton seeds under salt stress by regulating hormone-related genes in plant hormone signal transduction pathways.

The durum wheat NAC transcription factor TtNAC2A enhances drought stress tolerance in Arabidopsis

Dhawya Mergby et al.

Summary: The novel durum wheat NAC transcription factor gene TtNAC2A was found to play important roles in wheat development and stress responses by enhancing drought tolerance and hypersensitivity to ABA. It also activates a subset of stress-responsive genes, making it an attractive candidate for stress breeding in wheat crops.

Single-cell RNA sequencing reveals a high-resolution cell atlas of xylem in Populus

Hui Li et al.

Summary: High-throughput single-cell RNA sequencing was used to analyze protoplasts from the differentiating xylem of Populus alba x Populus glandulosa, revealing distinct cell clusters and differentially expressed genes. The differentiation trajectories of wood cells were uncovered, along with key regulators during developmental stages of xylem cell differentiation. This study provides a valuable high-resolution expression atlas of wood formation at the single cell level.

The TCP transcription factor PeTCP10 modulates salt tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis

Yuzeng Xu et al.

Summary: PeTCP10 is induced by salt stress and plays important regulatory roles in the response to salt stress in transgenic Arabidopsis. It enhances salt tolerance and antioxidant capacity, while also improving the tolerance of abscisic acid. However, it may decrease germination rates and primary root length under high-NaCl conditions.

Identification and characterisation of monovalent cation/proton antiporters (CPAs) in Phyllostachys edulis and the functional analysis of PheNHX2 in Arabidopsis thaliana

Lin Wu et al.

Summary: Plant monovalent cation/proton antiporters (CPAs) play important roles in salt stress resistance. In this study, the expression profiles and function of 10 PheNHXs genes from moso bamboo were investigated. Overexpression of PheNHX2 reduced salt tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis, affecting seed germination, root growth, and cellular ion content. These results provide insights into the regulation of salt tolerance in moso bamboo.
