Maintenance of root water uptake contributes to salt-tolerance of a wild tomato species under salt stress

Weihua Han et al.

Summary: This study revealed significant differences in water uptake under salt stress between wild tomato species and cultivated tomato species, with the wild tomato exhibiting higher salt tolerance. The maintenance of PIP1 aquaporin abundance and antioxidant defense capability in the wild tomato species may contribute to its maintenance of root water uptake under salt stress, enhancing its salt tolerance.
