Ultralow Thermal Conductivity, Multiband Electronic Structure and High Thermoelectric Figure of Merit in TlCuSe

Wenwen Lin et al.

Summary: TlCuSe is an intrinsic p-type semiconductor with ultralow thermal conductivity and high power factor, resulting in a high figure of merit ZT. The weak chemical bonds and large atomic mass contribute to the low sound velocity and anharmonicity, which helps to suppress lattice thermal conductivity.

Entropy engineering promotes thermoelectric performance in p-type chalcogenides

Binbin Jiang et al.

Summary: The thermoelectric properties of p-type chalcogenides were effectively improved by band convergence and hierarchical structure based on a high-entropy-stabilized matrix, resulting in enhanced Seebeck coefficient, electric transport property, and low lattice thermal conductivity. The study achieved a peak zT of 2.0 at 900K and a high experimental conversion efficiency of 12% at Delta T=506K for the fabricated segmented modules, showing promising applications for low-cost thermoelectric materials.
