Synthesis of Cyclic Phosphinates by Microwave-Assisted Ionic-Liquid-Promoted Alcoholysis

Nikoletta Harsagi et al.

Summary: A series of phospholane oxides were prepared in good yields by microwave-assisted catalysis, providing an alternative method to esterifications starting from phosphinic chlorides and acids. Microwave irradiation played a crucial role in the alcoholyses studied.

Alcoholysis Versus Fission of the Ester Group During the Reaction of Dialkyl Phenylphosphonates in the Presence of Ionic Liquids

Nikoletta Harsagi et al.

Summary: In the microwave-assisted alcoholysis of dialkyl phenylphosphonates in the presence of suitable ionic liquids, it was found that the phosphonate function inevitably underwent fission to ester-acid or diacid moieties. Additionally, the presence of [emim][HSO4] led to a reaction with selectivities of 66% for phosphonic esteracid and 97% for diacid. The ester-acids produced by this new protocol may serve as valuable intermediates.

Synthesis of 3-diethylphosphonoyl-2-hydroxy-prop-2-ylphosphonate and -phosphine oxide derivatives via the Pudovik reaction of diethyl 2-oxopropylphosphonate on the surface of Al2O3/KF

Petra R. Varga et al.

Summary: A series of new representatives within the large family of alpha-hydroxyphosphonates were prepared via the Pudovik reaction on the surface of Al2O3/KF, and the conformation of the alpha-hydroxy-ethylenebisphosphonate derivatives was established based on stereospecific constants.

The Hydrolysis of Phosphinates and Phosphonates: A Review

Nikoletta Harsagi et al.

Summary: This review summarizes examples of the acidic and alkaline hydrolysis, as well as dealkylation of phosphinates and phosphonates. Despite being a challenging task, the optimized reaction conditions for the hydrolysis of P-esters have not yet been fully explored in most cases. The field of P-esters hydrolysis is still in need of further research.

Synthesis of α-Aminophosphonates and Related Derivatives; The Last Decade of the Kabachnik-Fields Reaction

Petra R. Varga et al.

Summary: The Kabachnik-Fields reaction, involving the condensation of an amine, oxo compound, and a P-reagent, is still of interest due to challenging synthetic procedures and potential biological activity of the resulting products. A summary of synthetic developments in this field over the past decade includes catalytic accomplishments, catalyst-free and/or solvent-free protocols, and various alpha-aminophosphonic derivatives.
