Spatial patterns in phage-Rhizobium coevolutionary interactions across regions of common bean domestication

Jannick Van Cauwenberghe et al.

Summary: Through the study of four phage-Rhizobium communities in Mexico and Argentina, it was found that both phage and host diversity are spatially structured. Results showed that phage local adaptation and host maladaptation play key roles in shaping phage-host interactions. The study also revealed a nested network of interactions between phages and hosts, with their genetic identity and geographic origin influencing the interactions.
