Fisetin: An anticancer perspective

Muhammad Imran et al.

Summary: Fisetin, a dietary agent found in fruits and vegetables, has shown promising anticancer activity by inhibiting cancer cell stages, preventing progression in cell cycle and growth, and inducing apoptosis. Fisetin also modulates the expressions of various proteins in cancer cell lines and suppresses several signaling pathways involved in cancer development.

Tithi Roy et al.

Summary: Novel flavonol-based derivatives targeting skin cancers were synthesized and characterized, showing significant inhibitory effects on human skin cancer cell lines. These compounds were found to induce apoptosis of cancer cells by regulating key molecular targets, presenting promising therapeutic potential for melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers.

TET1 upregulation drives cancer cell growth through aberrant enhancer hydroxymethylation of HMGA2 in hepatocellular carcinoma

Kiyokazu Shirai et al.

Summary: TET1 promotes cell proliferation in hepatocellular carcinoma by inducing aberrant deposition of 5-hmC in active enhancers, particularly at the oncogenic target HMGA2. This epigenetic dysregulation leads to enhanced cell growth in hepatoblast-like HCC.

The Interaction of the Flavonoid Fisetin with Human Glutathione Transferase A1-1

Mohammed Hamed Alqarni et al.

Summary: Fisetin is a reversible inhibitor of human glutathione transferase A1-1, functioning as a mixed-type inhibitor for glutathione and a noncompetitive inhibitor for the electrophile substrate. It binds to a distinct location in the enzyme and reduces the expression of GSTA1-1 in colorectal adenocarcinoma cells, providing a synergistic role in suppressing cancer cells.
