Fate and transformation of silver nanoparticles in different biological conditions

Summary: This study investigated the biotransformation patterns of AgNPs following oral administration, revealing that AgNPs can quickly transform under different biological conditions and degrade to an ionic form before reconstructing into a nanoparticulate form depending on specific body compartments. AgNPs were found not to retain their specific integrity in in vivo settings, in line with previous research on inorganic nanoparticles.

Sex-related response in mice after sub-acute intraperitoneal exposure to silver nanoparticles

Summary: This study investigated the sex-related differences and effects of surface stabilizing agents on the distribution and adverse effects of AgNPs in vivo. Sex-related differences were observed in almost all tissues, with females showing higher accumulation of Ag in the liver. The influence of surface coating was also evident, with protein-coated AgNPs inducing stronger oxidative stress effects in the kidneys.
