Functional Intricacy and Symmetry of Long Non-Coding RNAs in Parasitic Infections

Joshua Seun Olajide et al.

Summary: Long non-coding RNAs are recognized as important regulators in parasite-host interactions, disease progression, and immune dynamics. Future research will continue to explore the potential of long non-coding RNAs in disease diagnosis and prognosis.

The structure of a major surface antigen SAG19 from Eimeria tenella unifies the Eimeria SAG family

Nur Zazarina Ramly et al.

Summary: Infections by apicomplexan parasites involve interactions with host proteins such as SAGs and SRS. The SAG family of Eimeria tenella, a parasite causing coccidiosis in chickens, shares a conserved three-layer alpha beta alpha fold with the CAP superfamily. Despite differences in structure, Eimeria SAG and Toxoplasma SRS families exhibit sequence hypervariable hotspots on their surfaces, suggesting a common purpose of providing a platform for sequence variability.

Full-length transcriptome sequence analysis of Eimeria necatrix unsporulated oocysts and sporozoites identifies genes involved in cellular invasion

Yang Gao et al.

Summary: Eimeria necatrix is a pathogenic chicken coccidia causing avian coccidiosis, with complex developmental life cycles. Through transcriptome analysis, genes associated with cellular invasion were identified, providing resources for the development of novel vaccine candidates against E. necatrix infection.

Genetic Diversity of Microneme Protein 2 and Surface Antigen 1 of Eimeria tenella

Tuan Cuong Vo et al.

Summary: Avian coccidiosis caused by genus Eimeria leads to significant economic losses in the global poultry industry, emphasizing the need for cost-effective recombinant vaccines. Studies on genetic diversity of potential vaccine candidates like MIC2 and SAG1 show different patterns in field isolates from countries such as China and India. Monitoring genetic heterogeneity and evolutionary aspects in more E. tenella isolates from different regions is crucial for designing effective coccidial vaccines.

Identification and Characterization of Eimeria tenella Microneme Protein (EtMIC8)

Ningning Zhao et al.

Summary: This study identified a novel microneme protein of E. tenella, which plays a role in adhesion and invasion processes and has good immunogenicity. Results will provide theoretical support for understanding the invasion mechanism of E. tenella and support the development of subunit vaccines.
