Sex differences in brain modular organization in chronic pain

Camille Fauchon et al.

Summary: The study identified sex-specific brain network characteristics in both healthy individuals and those with chronic pain. People with chronic pain displayed higher cross-network connectivity, with females showing higher functional segregation in certain brain regions and lower connectivity in certain modules compared to males. Classification models based on nodal graph metrics could accurately classify an individual's sex and chronic pain status.

A neuroimaging biomarker for sustained experimental and clinical pain

Jae-Joong Lee et al.

Summary: This study identified a brain biomarker for sustained pain, which showed high sensitivity and specificity to tonic pain and clinical pain. The functional magnetic resonance imaging connectivity pattern of tonic experimental orofacial pain can be used as a quantitative and unbiased biomarker of clinical pain.
