Interrelationship between renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and oxidative stress in chronic heart failure patients with or without renal impairment

Summary: The study investigated oxidative stress and RAAS biomarkers in CHF patients under optimized medical therapy, finding that severe patients had higher oxidative stress and lower vitamin D levels, while those with impaired renal function had higher intrarenal RAAS activation and lower vitamin D levels. Positive correlations were observed between oxidative stress and RAAS biomarkers in patients with impaired renal function, suggesting potential benefits from combining RAAS blockers with vitamin D and antioxidants in these patients.
