Optical wave patterns in cubic-quintic nonlinear metamaterials

Xing-Hua Du

Summary: This study focuses on optical wave patterns in metamaterials with cubic-quintic nonlinearity and third-order dispersion, modeled by the perturbed nonlinear Schrodinger equation. Using the complete discrimination system for polynomial method, it presents various optical wave patterns, including solitons, singular patterns, and double periodic solutions, along with their corresponding parameter conditions and restrictions. By selecting specific values for physical parameters, typical patterns are displayed through graphs.

Two model equations with a second degree logarithmic nonlinearity and their Gaussian solutions

Cheng-Shi Liu

Summary: In this paper, we investigate the mechanism of the existence of Gaussian waves in high degree logarithmic nonlinear wave motions by constructing model equations and proving the balance between dispersion and logarithmic nonlinearity. We use the logarithmic trial equation method as our mathematical tool in the study.

Optical envelope patterns in nonlinear media modeled by the Lakshmanan-Porsezian-Daniel equation

Hua Xin

Summary: The Lakshmanan-Porsezian-Daniel equation describes the dynamics of dispersion optical solitons in polarization-preserving fibers. Through the use of a direct integral method, a complete list of envelope patterns was obtained, revealing various dynamical properties such as solitons, singularities, periodicity, and double periodicity. The parameters conditions for the existence of each pattern were clearly given, leading to the determination of the topological stability of the patterns.

Chirped envelope solutions of short pulse propagation in highly nonlinear optical fiber

Zhixiang Yin

Summary: In this study, the optical chirped envelope solutions of short pulse propagation in highly nonlinear optical fibers are analyzed using a derivative nonlinear Schrodinger equation. The complete discrimination system for polynomial method is applied to obtain a full analysis of all chirped envelope solutions, resulting in a series of typical exact chirped patterns.

A study of the shallow water waves with some Boussinesq-type equations

Yue Kai et al.

Summary: This paper establishes analytic solutions and dynamic properties of a variety of Boussinesq-type equations through the complete discrimination system for polynomial method. It shows existing single traveling wave solutions to these equations as well as new solutions, and presents the Hamiltonian and topological properties of these equations. The significance of the Boussinesq-type equations lies in their wide applications in ocean engineering and fluid mechanics, especially in describing and predicting solitary and periodic waves in various shallow water models.
