Time-domain modelling and thermometry of the CH4 ν1 Q-branch using hybrid femtosecond/picosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering

Summary: In this study, a model for the CH4 nu(1) Q-branch was developed for fs/ps CARS, enabling simultaneous temperature acquisition from the CH4 and N-2 vibrational Q-branches. Accurate measurements were achieved for both molecules' spectra, with temperatures corresponding well to differences ranging from 4 to 17%. Additionally, spatially resolved one-dimensional thermometry using the CH4 Q-branch demonstrated a spatial resolution of 40 pm.

Summary: The energy transfer process in a pulsed-microwave enhanced flame was investigated by monitoring the vibrational and rotational temperatures of nitrogen. Results showed a delayed increase in vibrational temperature, indicating a long-lived pathway for energy loading. The measurements provide detailed information on vibrational-translational relaxation processes of ground state nitrogen in plasma-assisted combustion environments.
