Selective transverse mode emission from all polarization-maintaining fiber lasers

Sha Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated all polarization-maintaining fiber (PMF) lasers that offer selective transverse mode emission using the polarization rotation technique (PRT). Higher order modes were generated through offset and cross splicing between PMF sections, and a birefringence induced mode filter was produced. Both linear and ring cavity configurations were explored in order to realize different mode emissions, with experimental results achieving specific output profiles.

Generation controllable orbital angular momentum beams in fiber laser system

Zhicheng Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper demonstrates a method to generate controllable orbital angular momentum (OAM) beams through the superposition of four linearly polarized (LP) modes. A linear fiber laser is built with offset splicing and a two-mode fiber Bragg grating to realize controllable first-order optical vortex beams with OAM in the Yb-doped fiber laser system. Experimental results show that the topological charge can be tuned in the system.
