Optical vortex beams with the infinite topological charge

Alexey A. Kovalev et al.

Summary: Gaussian optical vortices with infinite topological charge have a countable number of phase singularities, typically with unitary topological charge, located equidistantly or not on a straight line. Their orbit angular momentum is finite, which can be adjusted by changing the Gaussian beam waist radius. Additionally, a Gaussian beam with a countable number of edge dislocations can be transformed into an infinite-topological-charge beam after an astigmatic transform.

Characterization of a pair of superposed vortex beams having different winding numbers via diffraction from a quadratic curved-line grating

Saifollah Rasouli et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for determining the topological charge of an optical vortex beam based on diffraction in an amplitude parabolic-line linear grating. The method is demonstrated for characterizing a pair of superposed vortex beams with different winding numbers. Analysis of diffraction patterns at zero and first order reveals how TCs and their signs can be determined, with distinct patterns observed for close and opposite winding numbers. The study also introduces a novel method for generating and combining a pair of vortex beams, with supporting theoretical validation of experimental results and propagation simulation.

Propagation-invariant laser beams with an array of phase singularities

A. A. Kovalev et al.

Summary: This study investigates multivortex beams with infinite topological charge and explores their characteristics and changes. Increasing the waist radius of the Gaussian beam leads to a parabolic growth in the orbital angular momentum of such beams.
