This paper presents a convenient method to obtain the phase characterization curve of SLM using polarimetry, demonstrating the feasibility of the proposed approach through experimental results. The spatially uniform and linear phase response of SLM achieved through corrections in CGHs enables the generation of singular light fields through on-axis phase modulation.
In this paper, we demonstrate a convenient method to obtain the phase characterization curve of spatial light modulator (SLM) using polarimetry. Unlike existing polarimetric methods, the proposed method requires less number of intensity measurements. The generation of singular light fields through on-axis phase modulation has been demonstrated by ensuring a spatially uniform and linear phase response of SLM achieved through corrections in computer-generated holograms (CGHs). A useful feature of this approach is that phase response correction can be applied independently at any selective locations of CGH, without any change in default gamma curve of SLM. Experimental results have been presented that verifies the feasibility of the proposed method.
