Applications of Few-Layer Nb2C MXene: Narrow-Band Photodetectors and Femtosecond Mode-Locked Fiber Lasers

Lingfeng Gao et al.

Summary: The physicochemical properties of niobium carbide have been widely explored, showing potential applications in photoelectronics. Few-layer Nb2C MXene can be used as a building block for photoelectrochemical-type photodetectors and mode-lockers, with adjustable photoresponse performance. Additionally, Nb2C nanosheets demonstrate stability in ultrastable pulses for optical switches and high harmonic orders in fiber lasers. These results expand the application prospects of two-dimensional MXenes in various photoelectronic devices.

Ultra-Small 2D PbS Nanoplatelets: Liquid-Phase Exfoliation and Emerging Applications for Photo-Electrochemical Photodetectors

Lingfeng Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, ultra-small 2D PbS nanoplatelets (NPLs) with uniform size were successfully fabricated using a liquid-phase exfoliation approach. The NPLs-based photodetectors (PDs) showed excellent photo-response performance, with high responsivity and detectivity, outperforming current PEC-type PDs. The outstanding properties of the NPLs were further analyzed through first-principle calculations, indicating promising applications in optoelectronic devices and potential breakthrough developments in other fields.

Two-dimensional tellurium saturable absorber for ultrafast solid-state laser

Zixin Yang et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional Te nanosheets were successfully fabricated through liquid-phase exfoliation, and their nonlinear optical properties were studied. The utilization of 2D Te as a saturable absorber enabled the realization of a continuous wave mode-locked Nd:YVO4 laser, achieving ultrafast pulses with an output power of 851 mW and pulse duration of 5.8 ps. This preliminary investigation highlights the potential of 2D Te saturable absorbers as promising photonic devices in the field of ultrafast solid-state lasers.
