Luminescence properties of Sm3+ doped Na2B4O7 glasses for lighting application

I. Ullah et al.

Summary: Sm3+ ions doped sodium-tetra-borate glasses were developed using the melt quenching technique, showing promising luminescence properties in the orange region with absorption of photons in the UV-Vis-NIR regions. The glasses have efficient energy transfer from the host matrix to the luminescence center, making them suitable for orange light-emitting diodes and solid state laser applications. The calculated CIE color coordinates and color purity confirm the potential for these glasses in specific optical technologies.

Nanosecond nonlinear optical, optical limiting and gamma radiation shielding attributes of Eu3+ions doped heavy metal borate glasses

Gangareddy Jagannath et al.

Summary: In this study, bismuth borate glasses activated with different Eu2O3 concentrations were synthesized and their optical and radiation shielding properties were investigated. The results showed that increasing Eu3+ ion concentration enhanced the two-photon absorption coefficient and reduced the optical limiting threshold values in the glass composition. The glasses with higher Eu3+ content were found to be beneficial for constructing power optical limiters in the visible spectral region under nanosecond regime. Additionally, radiation attenuation factors were determined between 0.276 and 1.275 MeV, revealing the effectiveness of the prepared glasses in shielding gamma radiation.

Enhanced non-linear optical properties of Eu3+ activated glasses by embedding silver nanoparticles

Naseem Fatima et al.

Summary: Eu3+-activated glasses doped with Ag0 nanoparticles were fabricated using the melt quench method. The presence of Ag0 nanoparticles was confirmed by surface plasmon resonance peaks and transmission electron microscopy. Non-linear optical properties increased with AgNO3 concentration up to 0.6 mol %, before decreasing at higher concentrations.
