A Monte Carlo simulation procedure is developed to select the optimum location of wind farms by combining major decision criteria and subjective judgments from decision-makers. The method utilizes Monte Carlo simulation, conventional Analytic Hierarchy Process, and Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process. It is applied to offshore wind farms in Spain to rank the most suitable turbine positioning locations.
A Monte Carlo simulation procedure is developed to select the optimum location of wind farms by using major decision criteria and applying subjective judgments from decision-makers. The approach combines Monte Carlo simulation with conventional Analytic Hierarchy Process and with the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process. Monte Carlo simulation is used to determine the confidence level of each alternative determined by the Analytic erarchy Process concerning the uncertainty of decision-maker opinions. The proposed method is applied offshore wind farms located in Spain, and the most appropriate locations for turbine positioning are ranked.
