Community-Based Approaches to Reducing Health Inequities and Fostering Environmental Justice through Global Youth-Engaged Citizen Science

Summary: This article discusses the application of the Our Voice citizen science research model, a technology-enabled participatory action research, with youth. Analysis of 20 Our Voice studies across five continents shows that youth from diverse backgrounds can successfully participate in contributory research processes, leading to changes in health, wellbeing, and environmental contexts. Future directions for community-engaged citizen science among young people across the socioeconomic spectrum are also explored.
