Summary: Following the electronic discussion and vote by the International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes regarding the status of Cyanobacteria in prokaryotic nomenclature, the ballot results have been announced. Amendments to General Consideration 5 and Rules 18a, 24a, and 30 will be included in the new revision of the International Code of Nomenclature of Prokaryotes based on the outcome of the ballot.
