Development of a human reliability analysis (HRA) guide for qualitative analysis with emphasis on narratives and models for tasks in extreme conditions

Yukihiro Kirimoto et al.

Summary: Probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) has improved its technologies for assessing external events, but human risk assessment (HRA) needs enhancement to analyze tasks under extreme conditions. Understanding the specific conditions affecting human performance in plant-specific and scenario-specific settings is crucial for these improvements.

A framework analyzing system status and human activities: Illustrated using 2011 Fukushima nuclear power plant accident scenarios

Yinan Cai et al.

Summary: Systematically modeling human activities and their interactions with complex systems is crucial for decision making processes. This work proposes a framework based on a time-dependent Bayesian Network to analyze system status and human activities as an integrated set, using the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident scenarios as an illustration. The framework can help decision-makers identify appropriate mitigation strategies for emergencies and prepare for similar future situations.

A new belief structure based on cardinality measure

Yige Xue et al.

Summary: The paper proposes a new conjunction model to fuse two cardinality measures and introduces a new belief structure based on cardinality measure. By calculating the cert and poss function values of focal elements, the belief and plausibility of the corresponding subset can be determined, with the conjunction of cardinality measures playing a crucial role in this process.

Combination of Transferable Classification With Multisource Domain Adaptation Based on Evidential Reasoning

Zhun-Ga Liu et al.

Summary: In this paper, a decision-level combination method for multisource domain adaptation based on evidential reasoning is proposed to improve classification accuracy by considering the reliabilities/weights of different source domains. Dempster's rule is employed to combine the classification results from different domains, and a neighborhood-based cautious decision-making rule is introduced to reduce error risk. Through these methods, the classification accuracy can be efficiently improved and the partial imprecision of classification can be well characterized.

An integrated framework of learning and evidential reasoning for user profiling using short texts

Duc-Vinh Vo et al.

Summary: This study proposes an integrated framework based on Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence, word embedding, and kappa-means clustering for inferring user profiles, which can handle short texts and uncertainty in user texts. The framework consists of three phases: learning abstract concepts, evidential inference and combination, and user profile extraction. It is flexible in processing data from multiple modes and sources, and the resulting profiles are interpretable and visualizable in practical applications. Experimental studies on datasets from Twitter and Facebook validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework.
