A study on South American species of the moss genus Syntrichia discovered a new species, described as S. hosseusii, rescued S. campestris and Tortula chubutensis from synonymy as a distinct species in Syntrichia, and revealed a new trait in S. polylepidis.
A study of some South American species of the moss genus Syntrichia (Pottiaceae) found the following: S. hosseusii is described as a new species; S. campestris and Tortula chubutensis are rescued from synonymy as a good species in Syntrichia; and a new trait in S. polylepidis is revealed.
