The TOR-EIN2 axis mediates nuclear signalling to modulate plant growth

Liwen Fu et al.

Summary: The evolutionarily conserved TOR kinase acts as a master regulator coordinating cell proliferation and growth among eukaryotes. Research has shown that TOR directly phosphorylates EIN2 to regulate a wide range of genes involved in various metabolic pathways. This study reveals a molecular mechanism by which different signaling pathways can modulate a central signaling hub through distinct phosphorylation codes.

Diverse nitrogen signals activate convergent ROP2-TOR signaling in Arabidopsis

Yanlin Liu et al.

Summary: Independent of nitrogen assimilation, nitrate and ammonium act as primary nitrogen signals to activate TOR in the Arabidopsis leaf primordium. Additionally, 15 proteinogenic amino acids can activate TOR, with the first amino acids generated from plant specific nitrogen assimilation, sulfur assimilation, and glycolate cycle showing the highest potency.

Sugar inhibits brassinosteroid signaling by enhancing BIN2 phosphorylation of BZR1

Zhenzhen Zhang et al.

Summary: The research found that sugar promotes BR signaling through the TOR pathway in dark conditions, while it inhibits BR signaling through the BIN2 kinase in light conditions. This suggests that the combination of light and sugar can regulate BR signaling through different pathways to optimize plant growth.
