Effect of the K loading on effective activation energy of isobutane dehydrogenation over chromia/alumina catalysts

D. A. Nazimov et al.

Summary: The effect of potassium loading on the catalyst depends on its interaction with alumina, with lower loadings enhancing conversion and selectivity up to 2.0 wt.% without affecting the activation energy significantly, while higher loadings can directly affect the activation energy and potentially form new active sites.

Inspection of various precipitant on SrO-based catalyst for transesterification: Catalytic performance, reusability and characterizations

Hui Li et al.

Summary: In this study, sodium carbonate and ammonium carbonate were used as precipitants to synthesize SrO-M/Na and SrO-M/NH4 solid catalysts for biodiesel production. Results show that SrO-M/Na exhibited higher catalytic activity while SrO-M/NH4 showed better reusability. Characterization of the catalysts was conducted to understand the underlying reasons behind these differences.

Catalytic production of hexamethylenediamine from renewable feedstocks

Jechan Lee et al.

Summary: Renewable biomass-derived chemicals are attracting interest as potential replacements for petroleum-derived chemicals. This article reviews the catalytic production of hexamethylenediamine from biomass and the bio-based routes for obtaining this key intermediate in the manufacturing of nylon 66. Although current proposed routes for renewable production of hexamethylenediamine are not yet competitive with petrochemical techniques, the use of heterogeneous catalytic systems via combined processes shows promise for commercialization in the near future.

Lewis acid Ni/Al-MCM-41 catalysts for H2-free deoxygenation of Reutealis trisperma oil to biofuels

Reva Edra Nugraha et al.

Summary: The deoxygenation activity of mesoporous Al-MCM-41 for Reutealis trisperma oil (RTO) was enhanced by modification with NiO nanoparticles. Impregnation with NiO increased Lewis acidity, leading to higher conversion towards liquid hydrocarbon yield.
