Spectral editing in 1H magnetic resonance spectroscopy: Experts' consensus recommendations

In-Young Choi et al.

Summary: Spectral editing in in vivo (1)H-MRS is an effective method for measuring low-concentration metabolite signals using known J-coupling relationships to discriminate resonances. This consensus recommendation paper provides an overview of commonly used homonuclear editing techniques and experts' recommendations for achieving adequate spectral editing and reliable quantification, including selecting the right editing sequence and dealing with unwanted resonances.

Relationship between GABA levels and task-dependent cortical excitability in children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder

Ashley D. Harris et al.

Summary: The study reveals that in children with ADHD, higher GABA+ levels are associated with poorer inhibitory response in the motor cortex, while in TD children, higher GABA+ levels may lead to larger TMS motor evoked potentials at rest. The relationship between GABA+ levels and SICI differs significantly between rest and during response inhibition tasks.

Simultaneous quantification of GABA, Glx and GSH in the neonatal human brain using magnetic resonance spectroscopy

Yanez Lopez Maria et al.

Summary: The balance between inhibitory and excitatory neurotransmitter systems, as well as the protective role of the antioxidant glutathione, play a crucial role in early brain development. Using edited MRS techniques, specific regional differences in neurochemical substances were identified in the neonatal brain, showing the unique features of GABA+ in neonates compared to adults. This method can provide important insight into the pathophysiology of neurodevelopmental disorders.
