Is obesity related to enhanced neural reactivity to visual food cues? A review and meta-analysis

Filip Morys et al.

Summary: This study reviews the literature on the relationship between obesity and food cues and conducts a preregistered meta-analysis. Thirteen studies investigating group differences between obese and lean individuals in brain responses to food and non-food pictures were included. The overall meta-analysis found no significant differences, but age was found to significantly influence brain response differences in the left insula and the left fusiform gyrus to food cues.

Is obesity related to enhanced neural reactivity to visual food cues? A review and meta-analysis

Filip Morys et al.

Summary: This study reviewed the literature on cue reactivity in obesity and conducted a meta-analysis. The results showed little evidence for obesity-related differences in responses to food cues, suggesting that such differences may be mediated by additional factors.
