Interaction between Alcohol Consumption and Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) Genotype with Cognition in Middle-Aged Men

Riki E. Slayday et al.

Summary: The study found that there was no significant difference in cognitive performance between moderate drinkers and non-drinkers or heavy drinkers. However, there was a significant interaction between alcohol consumption and ApoE ε4 status, indicating a stronger relationship between alcohol consumption and cognition in ε4 carriers.

Lifestyle and the aging brain: interactive effects of modifiable lifestyle behaviors and cognitive ability in men from midlife to old age

Carol E. Franz et al.

Summary: The study found that young adult general cognitive ability and lifestyle play important roles in brain aging. Regardless of GCA level, favorable lifestyle behaviors can predict less advanced brain aging, while unfavorable lifestyles may accelerate brain aging. Early lifestyle modifications may help reduce the risk of dementia.
