Intrinsic Anomalous Hall Conductivity in a Nonuniform Electric Field

Vladyslav Kozii et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the modification of intrinsic anomalous Hall conductivity in two-dimensional crystals with broken time-reversal symmetry due to weak inhomogeneity of the applied electric field. The general expression for Hall conductivity is derived, showing that it can be expressed through the Berry curvature, Fubini-Study quantum metric, and a rank-3 symmetric tensor related to the quantum geometric connection. Comparisons with semiclassical predictions reveal limitations of the semiclassical approach due to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle.

Optical spectral weight, phase stiffness, and Tc bounds for trivial and topological flat band superconductors

Nishchhal Verma et al.

Summary: The study provides insights into how interactions contribute to transport and superconductivity in flat bands with no kinetic energy for electrons. Exact results for flat-band superconductors are presented, including bounds for optical spectral weight, superfluid stiffness, and 2D critical temperature. Comparisons with mean-field and quantum Monte Carlo results are used to discuss the implications of the obtained bounds.

Electric polarization in inhomogeneous crystals

Yiqiang Zhao et al.

Summary: The study derives the charge density up to second order in spatial gradient in inhomogeneous crystals using the semiclassical coarse graining procedure based on the wave packet method. It finds that the first-order contribution of polarization consists of three parts, with the topological part related to the quantized fractional charge carried by a vortex in two-dimensional systems. The quadrupolelike contribution plays a significant role in the multiband case, ensuring the total polarization is gauge-independent.

Superconductivity-induced spectral weight transfer due to quantum geometry

Junyeong Ahn et al.

Summary: Optical spectral weight transfer associated with the onset of superconductivity at high-energy scales has been observed in multiple systems, with debates on its origin ongoing but a consensus that it is due to strong correlation effects beyond the BCS theory. Additionally, another route to a nonzero spectral weight transfer based on the quantum geometry of the conduction band in multiband systems has been shown.
