All-dielectric orthogonal doublet cylindrical metalens in long-wave infrared regions

Xiaoyan Shi et al.

Summary: Metalens have been introduced to address the drawbacks of traditional lenses and optical systems, such as large volume and complicated assembly. A converging cylindrical metalens (CML) and an orthogonal doublet cylindrical metalens (ODCM) were designed and demonstrated for focusing effect. The performance of ODCM is comparable to that of a traditional circular metalens within a certain size range.

Multiwavelength metalens by spatial multiplexing at visible wavelengths

Sangwon Baek et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates a multiwavelength metalens that operates concurrently at three visible wavelengths, designed by integrating metalens components using SIM or SLAM methods. The metalenses achieved near diffraction-limited focusing efficiency at wavelengths of 400, 600, and 800 nm, providing a simple guideline to increase the operating wavelengths of metalenses.

Monolithic all-silicon flat lens for broadband LWIR imaging

Orrin Kigner et al.

Summary: The team successfully designed and fabricated a silicon flat multi-level diffractive lens with a diameter of 15.2 mm, focal length of 19 mm, and a numerical aperture of 0.371, operating over the long-wave infrared spectrum. The lens demonstrated comparable performance to a conventional refractive lens in terms of field of view, depth of focus, and wavelength-averaged Strehl ratio.

High-efficiency broadband achromatic metalens for near-IR biological imaging window

Yujie Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a polarization-insensitive, broadband titanium dioxide achromatic metalens for near-infrared biological imaging applications, which compensates for dispersion in the wavelength range of 650-1000 nm. The metalens shows high average efficiency and numerical aperture.

Long wavelength infrared imaging under ambient thermal radiation via an all-silicon metalens

Luocheng Huang et al.

Summary: Traditional bulky refractive optics are a barrier to further miniaturization of imaging systems, while meta-optics have attracted great interest as a replacement for refractive optics in the visible wavelength range. This study extends meta-optics to the long-wave infrared regime and demonstrates imaging under ambient thermal emission, showing that the chromatic nature of the metalenses does not affect ambient light imaging.
