Rational design of cobalt-nickel double hydroxides for flexible asymmetric supercapacitor with improved electrochemical performance

Yatao Wu et al.

Summary: Rational design of micro-nano morphology and suitable crystalline structure are essential for metal hydroxides in advanced electrodes for flexible supercapacitors. The novel wisteria flower-like microstructure of cobalt-nickel double hydroxide (CoNi-DH) on carbon cloth shows high specific area and abundant active sites, resulting in highly effective pseudocapacitive energy storage and high-rate capability. The optimal CoNi-DH-S@CC electrode exhibits superior specific capacity and high-rate capability, surpassing other similar metal hydroxides, and shows promising potential in asymmetric supercapacitors with impressive capacity, energy density, and cycle life.

Covalent Graphene-MOF Hybrids for High-Performance Asymmetric Supercapacitors

Kolleboyina Jayaramulu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the covalent attachment of an amine functionalized metal-organic framework to carboxylate functionalized graphene, resulting in a hybrid material with high capacitance and cycling stability. An asymmetric supercapacitor was successfully constructed using this hybrid material, showing comparable performance to commercial devices such as Pb-acid and Ni/MH batteries. The amide linkage plays a key role in forming a p-conjugated structure, facilitating charge transfer and enhancing capacitance and cycling stability.
