Electrochemical Synthesis and Crystal Structure of the Organic Ion Intercalated Superconductor (TMA)0.5Fe2Se2 with Tc=43 K

Bettina Rendenbach et al.

Summary: The study successfully demonstrated the intercalation of organic cations in superconducting iron selenide, resulting in a significant increase in critical temperature. Structural characterization of the intercalated material revealed the intercalation mechanism, validated by theoretical calculations. This synthetic route opens up new possibilities for achieving high-yield intercalations of other organic cations.

Layered Intercalation Materials

Jingyuan Zhou et al.

Summary: 2D layered materials have strong in-plane covalent chemical bonding and weak out-of-plane van der Waals interactions, allowing for the insertion of guest species without breaking the in-plane bonds. Intercalation materials can be tailored for variable compositional and structural features, enabling property modulation and applications in various technologies. Various intercalation methods and their effects on the crystal structure and properties of host materials are discussed, along with future research opportunities and challenges in the field.
