Lasso-grafting of macrocyclic peptide pharmacophores yields multi-functional proteins

Emiko Mihara et al.

Summary: The RaPID system enables rapid discovery of small macrocyclic peptides binding desired targets. The lasso-grafting method proposed here involves implanting RaPID-derived peptides onto diverse proteins while maintaining both the cyclic peptide's binding properties and the host protein function.

Shape-Changing Bottlebrush Polymers

Bin Zhao

Summary: Bottlebrush polymers, composed of short polymeric side chains densely grafted on a polymer backbone, exhibit shape-changing behavior in response to environmental stimuli. By introducing a second solvophilic polymer into the side chains, the collapsed brushes are stabilized and can create unimolecular micellar nanostructures, showing potential for encapsulation and delivery applications. Challenges in the design, synthesis, and characterization of stimuli-responsive shape-changing BBPs are discussed.

Advancing macromolecular hoop construction: recent developments in synthetic cyclic polymer chemistry

Teng-Wei Wang et al.

Summary: The exploration of macromolecular topology provides common ground amongst chemists, material scientists, mathematicians, and artists. Different polymer architectures have unique physical properties and their topological-dependent properties are a fusion of symmetry and polymer physics. Specifically, cyclic macromolecules have distinct characteristics compared to their linear counterparts due to the lack of chain ends.
