Highly active sites of low spin FeIIN4 species: The identification and the ORR performance

Huizhu Cai et al.

Summary: This study synthesized Fe3C/C and Fe2N/C samples, and identified single sites of FeN4 species in the Fe2N/C sample after acid leaching, serving as an ideal model for identification of catalytic functions of single sites of FeN4 in ORR. A correlation was found between the concentration of low spin (FeN4)-N-II species by Mossbauer spectra and the kinetic current density at 0.8 V in alkaline media, confirming the catalytic roles of low spin (FeN4)-N-II species as highly active sites for ORR.

Greatly Facilitated Two-Electron Electroreduction of Oxygen into Hydrogen Peroxide over TiO2 by Mn Doping

Quanying Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, Mn-doped TiO2 was used as an efficient electrocatalyst for highly selective H2O2 synthesis, showing low onset potential and high H2O2 selectivity. Density functional theory calculations revealed that Mn dopant improved the electrical conductivity and reduced the activation energy, leading to a highly efficient H2O2 production process. The significantly boosted catalytic performance can be attributed to the lattice distortion of Mn-doped TiO2 with a large amount of oxygen vacancies and Ti3+.

Rational Design of High-Concentration Ti3+ in Porous Carbon-Doped TiO2 Nanosheets for Efficient Photocatalytic Ammonia Synthesis

Qing Han et al.

Summary: The study presents porous carbon-doped anatase TiOx (C-TiOx) nanosheets with high-concentration active sites of Ti3+ obtained through a reproducible bottom-up approach. It demonstrates that the high-concentration Ti3+ sites play a vital role in enhancing N-2 photoreduction activity. Combined with the morphology of porous nanosheets and the loading of a Ru/RuO2 cocatalyst, the optimized C-TiOx shows a high NH3 production rate and remarkable quantum efficiency under visible-light irradiation, outperforming current TiO2-based photocatalysts.

Advanced Development Strategy of Nano Catalyst and DFT Calculations for Direct Synthesis of Hydrogen Peroxide

Geun-Ho Han et al.

Summary: Hydrogen peroxide is a simple oxidizing agent with growing use due to its environmental friendliness. The traditional method of manufacturing H2O2 through anthraquinone autoxidation (AO process) releases large amounts of organic solvents and requires significant energy. Direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide (DSHP) offers a more sustainable solution, but faces challenges such as mass-transfer limitations and side reactions, requiring advanced technologies for catalyst development.
