Surface-structure tailoring of ultrafine PtCu nanowires for enhanced electrooxidation of alcohols

Liping Huang et al.

Summary: The study presents two types of ultrafine PtCu nanowires with different surface morphologies, and shows that the alloyed nanowires with rough surfaces exhibit superior catalytic activity due to the synergistic effect of Pt-Cu sites on the surface. This insight into alloy nanocatalyst design provides valuable information for energy-related electrocatalytic systems.

Pt3Mn alloy nanostructure with high-index facets by Sn doping modified for highly catalytic active electro-oxidation reactions

Yunrui Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the enhanced activity and stability for electro-oxidation of small organic molecules by implanting oxyphilic metal Sn into the surface of Pt3Mn concave nanocubes. The formed Sn/Pt3Mn catalysts exhibit better specific activity and mass activity compared to unmodified Pt3Mn catalyst for both FAOR and MOR. The presence of Sn efficiently protects the surface structure and decreases the reaction activation energy, leading to better catalytic performance.

In situ surface-doped PtNiCoRh nanocrystals promote electrooxidation of C1 fuels

Wei Wang et al.

Summary: The study proposes a one-pot, in situ surface doping chemical synthesis protocol to prepare quatermetallic PtNiCoRh dendritic nanocrystals as versatile and active catalysts for the electrooxidation of C-1 fuels. The surface doping of trace Rh atoms using selective coordination effect significantly enhances the catalytic activity of the nanocrystals, leading to improved durability and CO tolerance for various fuel oxidation reactions. This effective in situ surface doping strategy offers insights into designing more atom-economic heterocatalysts.

Ultrathin PdAuBiTe Nanosheets as High-Performance Oxygen Reduction Catalysts for a Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Device

Fengling Zhao et al.

Summary: A new visible-light-induced template technique has been developed to produce PdAuBiTe alloyed 2D ultrathin nanosheets, showing excellent oxygen reduction reaction activity and anti-CO poisoning properties. As cathode electrocatalysts in direct methanol fuel cells, the PdAuBiTe nanosheets can significantly improve power density and durability. In O-2/air, the power density can be increased to 235.7/173.5 mW cm(-2), higher than previous reports, and is 2.32/3.59 times higher than Pt/C.
