Fluorescence Probes for Imaging Basic Carboxypeptidase Activity in Living Cells with High Intracellular Retention

Hirohisa Iwaki et al.

Summary: This study presents two activatable fluorescence probes for detecting basic carboxypeptidase activity in living cells, which can be used for visualizing cancer tissues. 5ArgAF-FDA showed a stronger intracellular fluorescence increase compared to 5LysAF-FDA, and can differentiate cell lines with varying levels of basic carboxypeptidase activity.

Dopamine Receptor-Mediated Binding and Cellular Uptake of Polydopamine-Coated Nanoparticles

Yao Liu et al.

Summary: Polydopamine-coated nanoparticles show interaction with dopamine receptors, with catechol and amine groups enhancing the binding to D2DR and cellular uptake. In vivo studies in mice also demonstrate preferential association of the nanoparticles with D2DR-rich Kupffer cells.

Photoactivatable fluorophores for durable labelling of individual cells

Hiroki Kashima et al.

Summary: A non-fluorescent, cell-permeable photoactivatable fluorophores called paSPiDERs have been designed and developed, which exhibit fluorescence activation upon light irradiation and generate a quinone methide intermediate covalently binding to intracellular proteins. The fluorescence signal lasts for 24 hours, is resistant to fixation, and compatible with immunostaining, enabling selective cell labeling at single-cell resolution.
