Role of Photon Recycling and Band Filling in Halide Perovskite Photoluminescence under Focussed Excitation Conditions

Aravindan Sridharan et al.

Summary: Researchers studied the evolution of charge carriers in hybrid perovskite thin films using a numerical model to simulate photoluminescence, experimentally analyzed spectral changes at different radial positions from the excitation spot center, and investigated the position-dependent spectral shift of waveguided photon energy. Results indicated that photon recycling plays a negligible role in enhancing lateral carrier spreading in typical micro-PL experiments with moderate carrier densities.

Role of the A-Site Cation in Low-Temperature Optical Behaviors of APbBr3 (A = Cs, CH3NH3)

Hongsun Ryu et al.

Summary: CsPbBr3 and CH3NH3PbBr3 are prototype halide perovskites with similar bandgaps and photoluminescence features, but exhibit differences in apparent color and exciton binding energies at low temperatures. The emergence of P-band emission and electron-hole plasma upon increasing excitation level highlight the critical role of the A-site cation in determining the optical properties of these materials.

Enhancing the Hot-Phonon Bottleneck Effect in a Metal Halide Perovskite by Terahertz Phonon Excitation

Fumiya Sekiguchi et al.

Summary: The impact of phonon excitations on the photoexcited carrier dynamics in lead-halide perovskite CH3NH3PbI3 was investigated, showing that strong terahertz excitation can prolong the cooling time of hot carriers. The results demonstrate that phonon excitation significantly perturbs the carrier relaxation dynamics in halide perovskites through the coupling between transverse- and longitudinal-optical phonons.

Summary: The study investigates the electron-phonon interactions in common perovskite films using transient absorption spectroscopy and density function theory calculations. The analysis reveals the complex relationship between carrier temperature and carrier density in HOIPs, shedding light on the hot-phonon bottleneck effect. Mapping Trap Dynamics in a CsPbBr3 Single-Crystal Microplate by Ultrafast Photoemission Electron Microscopy

Wei Liu et al.

Summary: For versatile lead-halide perovskite materials, trap states in both bulk and surface significantly affect optoelectronic behaviors and performance. Utilizing femtosecond pump-probe technique combined with PEEM, shallow and deep trap states were identified within a CsPbBr3 single-crystal microplate. The study revealed a high-defect tolerance to shallow traps within the microplate, while surface dynamics were dominated by deep traps. The ultrafast PEEM provided insights into fast electron transfer and accumulation of surface trap states, highlighting the importance of surface optimization for excellent electronic properties of perovskite materials.

The Significance of Polarons and Dynamic Disorder in Halide Perovskites

Maximilian J. Schilcher et al.

Summary: The development of halide perovskite semiconductors has led to significant technological breakthroughs in the fields of photovoltaics and light-emitting diodes, but it has also raised intriguing fundamental properties that demand explanation. Despite the existence of polaronic behavior in these systems, standard models used to describe a polaron mechanism appear to be strongly violated in these materials, highlighting the importance of alternative concepts like dynamic disorder to explain their physical characteristics.
