Resolved simulations of jet-ISM interaction: Implications for gas dynamics and star formation

Dipanjan Mukherjee et al.

Summary: Recent studies have simulated jet-driven outflows to explore their impact on the surrounding environment, focusing on the interaction with the turbulent interstellar medium and energetics of the gas. These simulations provide insights into the evolution of gas dynamics and star formation rate.

Impact of relativistic jets on the star formation rate: a turbulence-regulated framework

Ankush Mandal et al.

Summary: This study applies a turbulence-regulated model to investigate the impact of jet-ISM interactions on the star formation rate of dense star-forming clouds. The results show that the jet can globally reduce the SFR while locally enhance it, indicating a complex variation in the ISM SFR dependent on the strength of jet-ISM coupling and break-out time-scale of the jet. Furthermore, it is found that both positive and negative jet feedback can occur within a single system during a single jet event.

Powerful winds in high-redshift obscured and red quasars

Summary: Research findings suggest that the galactic-scale outflows driven by extreme red quasars are likely powered by radiation pressure in high column density environments or adiabatic shock, carrying significant amounts of energy and impacting the host galaxies of the quasars.
