Central engine of the highest redshift blazar

S. Belladitta et al.

Summary: We present the results of a new near-infrared spectroscopic observation of PSO J0309+27, the highest redshift blazar known to date. The observation reveals that PSO J0309+27 is powered by a supermassive black hole with a mass of 1.45(-0.85)(+1.89) x 10(9) M-circle dot and a bolometric luminosity of about 8 x 10(46) erg s(-1). The existence of such a massive black hole challenges models of early SMBH growth.

The impact of the CMB on the evolution of high-z blazars

L. Ighina et al.

Summary: Recent studies have observed an increase in the average X-ray-to-radio luminosity ratio with redshift in the blazar population, potentially influenced by the interaction between relativistic electrons and cosmic microwave background photons. The IC/CMB model can explain this trend and also account for different space density evolutions in X-ray and radio-selected blazar samples. This research suggests that ongoing X-ray missions could further constrain the observed evolution at higher redshifts.

Constraining the Quasar Radio-loud Fraction at z ∼ 6 with Deep Radio Observations

Yuanqi Liu et al.

Summary: This study conducted deep radio observations on a sample of quasars at redshift around 6, detecting two new radio-loud quasars. The results revealed a radio-loud fraction of 9.4 +/- 5.7% for optically selected quasars at redshift around 6, with no significant evidence of quasar RLF evolution with redshift or quasar UV/optical luminosity trend due to limited sample size of optically faint objects.
