One star, two star, red star, blue star: an updated planetary nebula central star distance catalogue from Gaia EDR3

N. Chornay et al.

Summary: The study of Galactic PNe has historically been challenging due to uncertain distances, but improvements in Gaia's EDR3 are changing the situation. By accurately identifying CSPNe in the catalogue, over 2000 sources have been identified as likely CSPNe or compact nebula detections. The more precise parallaxes of these sources compared to previous PN statistical distances, along with a method to combine them for tighter distance constraints, show the potential for new avenues in PNe research.

HiPERCAM: a quintuple-beam, high-speed optical imager on the 10.4-m Gran Telescopio Canarias

V. S. Dhillon et al.

Summary: HiPERCAM is a portable quintuple-beam optical imager that can record images simultaneously with its five CCD cameras, allowing for both deep long-exposure imaging and high-speed imaging. Utilizing frame-transfer devices cooled thermo-electrically, it can achieve detections of astronomical sources at high precision. By combining HiPERCAM with the world's largest optical telescope, it can enhance the effective field of view and achieve detections of astronomical sources with high limits.
