Tango for three: Sagittarius, LMC, and the Milky Way

Eugene Vasiliev et al.

Summary: By utilizing astrometric data, distance estimates, and line-of-sight velocities, we assembled a catalogue of candidate members of the Sagittarius stream, revealing a misalignment in the stream track attributed to a time-dependent perturbation in the gravitational potential, likely caused by the Large Magellanic Cloud. Our simulations showed that the presence of the LMC is necessary to accurately model the Sagittarius stream, highlighting the dynamic nature of the Milky Way's interaction with massive satellites like the LMC.

Constraints on Dark Matter Properties from Observations of Milky Way Satellite Galaxies

E. O. Nadler et al.

Summary: The study on Milky Way satellite galaxies provides strong cosmological constraints on various particle models of dark matter, supporting the cold, collisionless dark matter paradigm. Limits are reported on the mass of thermal relic warm dark matter, velocity-independent dark matter-proton scattering cross section, and the mass of fuzzy dark matter, complementing other observational and laboratory constraints on dark matter properties.

Narrowing the Mass Range of Fuzzy Dark Matter with Ultrafaint Dwarfs

Kohei Hayashi et al.

Summary: Research has found that most of the ultrafaint dwarf galaxies prefer FDM particle masses heavier than 10(-21) eV, with Segue 1 providing the strongest constraint. Additionally, the constraints obtained in this study are compatible with various other independent cosmological and astrophysical bounds found in the literature, but are not compatible with the bounds from luminous dwarf galaxies.

The MUSE-Faint survey II. The dark-matter density profile of the ultra-faint dwarf galaxy Eridanus 2

Sebastiaan L. Zoutendijk et al.

Summary: Using stellar line-of-sight velocities, the study constrained the dark matter density profile of the ultra-faint dwarf galaxy Eridanus 2, deriving constraints on self-interacting and fuzzy dark matter scenarios. The results favored cold dark matter over self-interacting dark matter, and provided evidence for fuzzy dark matter. The study also found consistency with the literature regarding the mass-to-light ratio and set limits on core and soliton sizes. The constraints on self-interaction and fuzzy-dark matter particle mass offered complementary information and challenged previous results obtained for larger dwarf galaxies.
