Numerical study of coorbital thermal torques on cold or hot satellites

Raul O. Chametla et al.

Summary: The study reveals that thermal torques exerted on low-mass planets in gaseous protoplanetary discs primarily depend on the offset between the planet and its corotation, and tend towards an asymptotic value with larger offsets. As planetary mass increases, the ratio of thermal torques to Lindblad and corotation torques decreases, and the thermal disturbance becomes increasingly distorted by the horseshoe flow. Overall, thermal torques dominate for masses up to nearly an order of magnitude larger than implemented in recent models of planetary population synthesis.

The Effect of a Strong Pressure Bump in the Sun's Natal Disk: Terrestrial Planet Formation via Planetesimal Accretion Rather than Pebble Accretion

Andre Izidoro et al.

Summary: The study reveals a clear separation between the inner and outer solar system, with ring-like structures in protoplanetary disks potentially explaining isotopic differences among meteorites and planets. Simulations show that a strong pressure bump in the outer disk can affect the formation of the inner solar system, leading to the conclusion that terrestrial embryos likely formed through planetesimal accretion rather than pebble accretion.
