Summary: The study explores the relationship between infrared excess and UV spectral slope in galaxies, finding that the galaxies in high-resolution cosmological simulations show a similar relation to observed nearby galaxies. It is suggested that variations in the intrinsic UV spectral slope are the primary driver of the scatter in the relationship.

Summary: Direct spectroscopic measurements of the broad 2175 A absorption feature in high-redshift main-sequence galaxies reveal a correlation between bump amplitude and specific star formation rate (sSFR) and stellar mass. Comparisons with local starburst galaxies show that high-redshift main-sequence galaxies have stronger bump features. Plotting the bump strength against Delta logsSFR relative to the main sequence leads to better concordance between the two samples, indicating that recent star formation history determines the bump strength in galaxies.
