The Gaia-ESO Survey: Membership probabilities for stars in 63 open and 7 globular clusters from 3D kinematics

R. J. Jackson et al.

Summary: Spectroscopy from the Gaia-ESO Survey has been combined with Gaia data to assign membership probabilities to targets towards 63 Galactic open clusters and 7 globular clusters. Most targets are identified as highly probable cluster members, and the inclusion of GES radial velocities helps reduce false positives. This study provides an ideal dataset for investigating the photometric and chemical properties of clusters.

Frequency analysis of δ Scuti stars towards the Galactic bulge

H. Netzel et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the frequency of δ Scuti stars and identified a significant number of stars pulsating in two or more radial modes simultaneously. The research reported the identification results and statistical properties of the frequencies of these stars, as well as predicted theoretical period ratios for oscillations in different overtone modes.

Extended stellar systems in the solar neighborhood: V. Discovery of coronae of nearby star clusters

Stefan Meingast et al.

Summary: The study presents a novel perspective on the morphology and dynamical state of ten prominent, nearby, and young open star clusters using Gaia DR2 data. A pioneering member-identification method is introduced to reveal the existence of vast stellar coronae surrounding tiny and compact cluster cores. The analysis shows that the clusters are in a highly dynamic state, with evidence of expansion and contraction along different spatial axes, reflecting the differential rotation pattern of the Milky Way.

The traditional approximation of rotation for rapidly rotating stars and planets I. The impact of strong deformation

H. Dhouib et al.

Summary: The study introduces a new generalization of the traditional approximation of rotation (TAR) by considering the centrifugal effects, and determines its validity domain through analysis of 2D stellar models. It is found that the TAR remains applicable for deformed stars rotating at a rate lower than 20% of the critical rotation rate.

Summary: HD139614 is a possibly pre-main-sequence star in the Sco-Cen OB association with a slightly warped circumstellar disc containing ring structures hinting at one or more planets. The star's chemical abundance pattern and pulsation modes have been studied to determine its nature and provide insights into its properties.

Constraining stellar evolution theory with asteroseismology of γ Doradus stars using deep learning: Stellar masses, ages, and core-boundary mixing

J. S. G. Mombarg et al.

Summary: The neural network approach developed in this study allows for the derivation of important stellar properties for evolution, such as mass, age, and extent of core-boundary mixing. It also paves the way for inferring mixing profiles throughout the radiative envelope for large samples of gamma Doradus stars in the future.

Probing the temperature gradient in the core boundary layer of stars with gravito-inertial modes: The case of KIC 7760680

M. Michielsen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the thermal and chemical structure in the near-core region of stars with a convective core using gravito-inertial modes, focusing on the B-type star KIC 7760680 rotating at a quarter of its critical rotation velocity. The results suggest that period spacings of modes with consecutive radial order offer a better diagnostic for asteroseismic modelling of stars with high-order gravito-inertial modes, with simpler models without convective boundary mixing being statistically preferred for KIC 7760680.

Internal mixing of rotating stars inferred from dipole gravity modes

May G. Pedersen et al.

Summary: Observations of 26 rotating stars with masses between 3 and 10 solar masses reveal a wide range of internal mixing levels, with models incorporating radially stratified mixing profiles showing the best asteroseismic performance. This study provides observational guidance for three-dimensional hydrodynamical simulations of transport processes in the deep interiors of stars, based on gravity modes probing the stars' deep interiors near the convective core. The internal mixing levels in the analyzed stars are unexpectedly varied and are best reproduced with models incorporating radially stratified mixing profiles.
