Synthesis and crystal structure of bis(thiomorpholinyldithiocarbamato)Cu(II) complex and its use as precursor for CuS nanoparticles photocatalyst for the degradation of organic dyes

Nolwazi Solomane et al.

Summary: A Bis(thiomorpholinyldithicarbamate)Cu(II) complex was prepared and characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography, revealing a mononuclear copper(II) ion bonded to two thiomorpholinyl dithiocarbamate anion in a distorted square planar geometry. The compound was thermolyzed to produce CuS nanoparticles, confirmed to be pure hexagonal covellite crystalline phase. The CuS nanoparticles exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity for methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) dyes degradation.

S-Rich PbS Quantum Dots: A Promising p-Type Material for Optoelectronic Devices

Dmytro Bederak et al.

Summary: PbS colloidal quantum dots can be used as versatile building blocks for various optoelectronic devices, with the transport properties depending on the size of the CQDs, their surface ligands, and stoichiometry. A new synthesis approach provides sulfur-rich PbS CQDs, enabling strong hole-dominated transport in thin field-effect transistors.

Summary: Lead sulphide (PbS) nanoparticles were synthesized by thermolysis of bis(phenylpiperazine dithiocarbamato)lead(II) complex in oleylamine at different temperatures, showing variations in particle size and bandgap energy. The PbS nanoparticles exhibited efficient photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B and retained high recyclability properties after multiple reuses without deactivation.
