Polyphenolic content and bioactivities of Crataegus oxyacantha L. (Rosaceae)

Wassila Benabderrahmane et al.

Summary: Solid-liquid extraction using solvents of different polarities was applied to study the phytochemical profile of leaves and fruits from Crataegus oxyacantha L. The isolated compounds from the ethyl acetate extract showed strong antibacterial activity, including some compounds reported for the first time from this species.

Identification and phylogenetic analysis of five Crataegus species (Rosaceae) based on complete chloroplast genomes

Liwei Wu et al.

Summary: The study showed that the chloroplast genomes of the five Crataegus species had a conserved structure and gene content. Complete chloroplast genome sequences were found to be more suitable for accurate identification and differentiation of Crataegus species. This suggests that the complete chloroplast genome can serve as a super-barcoding tool for authenticating Crataegus species.
