Mechanical Properties of a Supramolecular Nanocomposite Hydrogel Containing Hydroxyl Groups Enriched Hyper-Branched Polymers

Wenjin Xing et al.

Summary: By incorporating hyper-branched polymers into hydrogel networks, especially the third and fourth generations of HBP, significant improvements in strength and toughness were observed in the hybrid hydrogels. The stiffness of the hybrid hydrogel remains almost unchanged relative to the pure PAA hydrogel, demonstrating the weak characteristic of hydrogen bonds in this system. Additionally, a remarkable self-healing feature was observed in the hybrid hydrogel system, showcasing the fast reforming nature of broken hydrogen bonds.
