Multielement authentication of apples from the cold highlands in southwest China

Jianyi Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that apples from the SCH region had higher concentrations of Mn, Zn, Cr, Cd, Se, Pb, and Fe, but lower concentrations of Na, B, Ni, and P. Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) achieved an average testing accuracy of 92.5% and 92.2%, while nonlinear models were more suitable. The optimized random forest analysis was the best fit model, with an average accuracy of 98.2% and 98.5% for training and testing, respectively.

A Review on the Biological Activity of Camellia Species

Ana Margarida Teixeira et al.

Summary: Medicinal plants have been traditionally used to cure illnesses, and natural compounds extracted from plants, including the Camellia species, have garnered scientific attention in recent decades. Tea and oil extracted from Camellia sinensis and Camellia oleifera are the most valuable subproducts. Several studies report the health benefits of Camellia species, particularly their antimicrobial and antitumoral activities, as well as their abundance in polyphenols like catechins.
