Bioadsorbents from algae residues for heavy metal ions adsorption: chemical modification, adsorption behaviour and mechanism

Rongguo Li et al.

Summary: This study proposed a novel protocol for utilizing seaweeds to remove heavy metals from wastewater, resulting in 3-6 times increase in adsorption capacity after chemical modification. The adsorption process was well described by pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir adsorption isotherm equation.

Valorization of post-extraction biomass residues as carriers of bioavailable micronutrients for plants and livestock

Dawid Skrzypczak et al.

Summary: Biosorption, as a new trend, can be used in the production of new fertilizers and supplements by utilizing plant biomass-post-extraction residues as carriers for microelements. This method helps to reduce waste generation and promote material recovery and reuse.

Efficacy of two seaweeds dry mass in bioremediation of heavy metal polluted soil and growth of radish (Raphanus sativusL.) plant

Dalia Abd El-Azeem Ahmed et al.

Summary: Seaweeds, especially when used in mixture, show significant efficiency in reducing heavy metal content in soil, promoting plant growth, and enhancing nutrient uptake. Their bioaccumulation capacity and presence of growth hormones make them effective bioremediators for soil pollution control.

Summary: This study provides information on various aspects of commonly found Cladophora species, including classification, distribution, and habitat requirements. Different species within the genus have varying habitat preferences and development optimas. The distribution of these green algae is influenced by multiple environmental factors, with only a few species adapted to freshwater environments in Europe.
