Undecanoic Acid, Lauric Acid, and N-Tridecanoic Acid Inhibit Escherichia coli Persistence and Biofilm Formation

Xing Jin et al.

Summary: Fatty acids show promise as antipersister and antibiofilm agents, with medium-chain saturated fatty acids such as undecanoic acid and lauric acid being particularly effective at inhibiting persister cell formation in E. coli and enterohemorrhagic E. coli. These fatty acids not only repress persister formation but also reduce biofilm formation, demonstrating their potential for treating bacterial infections.
